In the 1980s a breakdance took root in Cape Town, South Africa. This dance would become known as breakdance or bboying. The true essence of the bboy culture was kept alive for +-35 years by a group of b-boys. The WC Allstars are members of that pioneering group. The WC Allstars are considered original bboy pioneers who have been part of the game since 1983. We are made up of two of the most legendary bboy crews in South Africa, B-Boy Kingz & Dream Team.

Street Freak crew, founded by legends Iggy & Ahmad built a legacy that was kept alive by the original SFC members Jam, Ice, Miles, Mickey, and Gavin, who would later form the B-Boy Kingz.

Other members came from a crew that was started after breaking was considered dead by mainstream media. Audio2Hype would become one of the most creative hip hop collectives in 1989. In 91 Founder Ray Premo would be joined by Maka; Mustapha and Naeem.

This crew was unrivalled in style and true bboy culture. They drew their inspiration from the crews of old like Rock Steady Crew/New York City Breakers from the movie Beat Street.

The other legendary crew was the Dream team. Maka and Naeem would become some of the founding members. Their inspiration came from crews like Bboy Allstars. Their power and hunger to be top crew were demonstrated every time they went out.

These two crews changed the style and skill level required to qualify as a bboy with basic skill, overnight. The rivalry culminated in a battle in 1993. The outcome is still contested today!

The active members of these two crews came together to start the NPO, Western Cape Allstars. This organization aims to set up a youth center & protect bboy culture and assist in the growth of the hip hop elements through positive partnerships. They have pledged to work in the disenfranchised communities of the Cape Flats wanting to create sustainable and consistent programs that will create alternatives to youth at risk.

No other hip-hop organization has been able to create positive outcomes for our community yet.
